While other candidates like Aaron Hollidge and Alex Drummond had a laid back approach, Brooke took charge She talked about important issues such as: gender equality, education, immigration, and budget. She talked about encouraging women from a young age to go into STEM fields. Brooke wants to confront this issue head on and hope for it to solve itself. She wants to implement short term and long term solutions to these issues. She also wanted to improve the education system by making it more affordable and giving it better funding. She dies not believe that more competition between schools will be beneficial for the public. Brooke believes that America is a sanctuary and a land of hope for many people. She does not believe we should deport all illegal immigrants or deny people entry. Many of them are escaping from extremely dangerous situations for a better life. Those that are already here, illegal or not, are part of our economy. Deporting every illegal immigrant would have terrible consequence for our country. In fact Brooke said that their path to citizenship should be made easier then it is now. Finally Brooke also talked about the current budget situation and her plans for the future. She wants to cut 3% from Medicare/Medicaid/S.S. and 8% from military. She does not believe that we would sacrificing our security by cutting funding from the military because of the amount that we already spend. This policy would reduce the overall spending by 3% and she wants to continue this trend by decreasing 1% of the total spending each year.
