PLATFORM

"I come from a hard-working family that takes pride in being involved in community service. I want to work for you. In order to do so, we need to work together to create more living wage jobs, improve our schools, and make youth and public safety a top priority. I can promise you that as President, I will be honest, diligent, and get the job done.
Major Policies
Abortion

Everyone always has multiple choices in life. In this case, Brooke believes that women have the right to choose what she does with her own body, which, of course, applies to abortion. She does, however, view abortion as a last resort option, and would rather educate men, women, and children on how to have safe sex and give them better access to contraceptives before they involve themselves in a situation they will regret. In cases of rape, incest, or any scenario where the mother's life is at risk, there is no question that an abortion should be the woman's choice. In other circumstances, having a baby and giving it up for adoption is encouraged, but abortion itself will always remain a choice for the woman to decide on with her doctor. Throughout history, women have been completely regulated, and this is another rule we need to let go of in order to completely level the playing field for both men and women.

Citizenship

As we inhabit a nation founded on immigration, immigrants should be welcomed inside our borders. Brooke knows that accepting immigrants and allowing them to become citizens means they pay taxes, buy goods, and work; all of which boost our economy. Deporting immigrants not only means the government and states lose money from taxes but morally, it is unjust. She believes that sending people back into the turmoil and hardship of their countries is not right; they deserve to escape that disarray and seek shelter in our country, which has been called "the Promised Land" a multitude of times. She believes that people on skilled workers visas should stay on them and that these types of visas should be increased, as they pay taxes and stimulate the economy.

World Affairs

Brooke believes that we should be involved in world environmental affairs in order to increase sustainability but wants to implore other countries to do their part as well, encouraging a united world that understand the detriments of wasteful habits. She also believes that we should withdraw troops from war-torn countries and countries where we don't see eye-to-eye with their systems of government. Essentially, America needs to stop interfering in conflicts we don't belong in, as, in the past, we have usually done more harm than good. This means encouraging the UN to only take action if extremely necessary; situations concerning genocides or civil rights violations fall beneath this category. Maintaining the NATO alliance is also important to her, as a united world means more reason for peace.

Guns

Common sense gun laws are imperative at this point in society. Brooke does not want to repeal the Second Amendment, but she believes that there should be more complicated regulations in place in order to purchase guns. Law-abiding citizens (including but not limited to hunters, veterans, gun club members, and gun collectors) have the right to own rifles and other low-grade weapons, but Brooke strongly believes that no military grade weapons should be owned by any ordinary citizen. She believes that there should be thorough background checks on a purchaser before they are allowed to take home a gun. These background checks should extensively research the client for red flags, such as criminal history, mental illness, or threatening social media presences, to name a few examples. Once expanded, less malicious people will have access to automatic weapons, lowering and hopefully eliminating the amount of mass shootings America currently plays host to.

Spending

Brooke believes that both mandatory and discretionary spending needs to be cut back. She believes that the government should be prohibited from touching citizens' Social Security funds. She believes that reducing spending by 3% a year means national debt will decrease efficiently; over time, the deficit will lower, but not to the immediate starvation of national funding. Brooke also believes that businesses should pay more and wants to raise corporate taxes on the highest income bracket, especially including the top 1%, multinational corporations. She wants to reduce military spending, believing we should push back on self-defense, as the United States already has the largest military in the world. We should maintain this status, but not expand it until we are no longer in debt. Brooke also believes in need-based welfare and in fewer restrictions for those deeper in poverty, but for those regulations to be the states' to control, as they know their specific population's needs in certain areas.
